So much for one a day… I really don’t have an excuse for it. I was just lazy, and didn’t feel like writing this. Though this itself is an excuse…
Well, moving on…
After my meal at Ramen Jinya, we headed for waterfront, where the Olympic torch was since I’ve never seen the torch, yet. Can I just say that the Olympic torch was a lot more underwhelming than I had imagined/seen from other people’s pictures. I thought it was three times taller at least. This whale that I took a picture with was more interesting than the torch. Continue reading →
Here we are! Our first instalment of FAV’D. For those of you who missed my previous post about FAV’D, please do go check it out to have a better understanding of what this is.
Anyways, since I arrived on a Saturday night, I didn’t get to do much that day. The next day, my friends and I went to see the Chinese New Years Parade put on by Vancity bank (a week late, but meh). The parade was alright, but fun nonetheless. We were all starving, so we head out to my first proper meal in Vancouver after many many years.
EDIT: Clear one a day has proven to be impossible for me… I’ll post them ASAP… :’D
As some of you may know (the people that read my Nutella Cheesecake Cup post), I recently took a trip to Vancouver. During my stay in Vancouver, I stayed at Shiina Mint’s house, who doesn’t have wireless internet, so I couldn’t update the blog as often as I would like to. Also because I was out from early morning to late at night. But fear not! That is why this series will exist!
I shall call it… Food Across Vancouver with Daniel, or FAV’D (because we’re totally ignoring the w)
Every day(No, Daniel. You suck, so every day is not possible), I will have a new entry for a restaurants I’ve ate in Vancouver in chronological order. I will also talked about I’ve been doing in Vancouver up until the restaurant I am reviewing that post.
As I post a new entry about the restaurant, I will update this post with links for the restaurant as this post will act as the master post.
Here is the list of the restaurants that I will be writing about:
1. Ramen Jinya
4. Shiro Sushi
6. Italian Kitchen
8. Banana Leaf
11. 生活小館 (Estea)
12. Guu Garden
13. G-Men/Nanchuu Izakaya
15. 好彩小廚 (Good Choice Restaurant)
I hope you will enjoy this mini-series and continue to follow my adventures in Vancouver!
The last backlogged Winterlicious post is finally here! For my last Winterlicious of this season, I went to a restaurant called Valens. It’s located at 19 Baldwin Street Toronto, ON M5T 1L1.
I arrived 15 minutes early, and I was also the only one in the restaurant (excluding the employees). I studied the menu while waiting for my friends to arrive since I got nothing else better to do. The menu, like EDO’s, was wrinkled and used, but I didn’t mind that because the menus were temporary ones anyways. They also pre-poured water for every table even if they were empty; I guess they know they’re popular or something. The restaurant was really hot, and my friends said the same thing as they walked into the restaurant. It was also made apparent from all the ice in the water melting at record speed. It’s another instalment of prolonged Winterlicious review! Don’t worry, I only have 2 more Winterlicious (including this one). Hopefully my backlog will be shrinking as I post more…
Before I get started on this post, the lighting in the restaurant was very limited, and I refuse to use flash. Some pictures are quite dark, and I do apologize for that.
Tonight’s dining took place in Brassaii. The outside looks very much like a sacrificial chamber like one I would find in Skyrim. I mean… it’s very pretty :D. In all seriousness, Brassaii was a bit difficult to locate because it is in a deserted alleyway. The snow blowing into our face doesn’t help, either, but we managed to find it regardless. Brassaii is on 461 King St W Toronto, ON M5V 1K4. Continue reading →
