Valens – Winterlicious, the full on experience

The last backlogged Winterlicious post is finally here! For my last Winterlicious of this season, I went to a restaurant called Valens. It’s located at 19 Baldwin Street Toronto, ON M5T 1L1.

I arrived 15 minutes early, and I was also the only one in the restaurant (excluding the employees). I studied the menu while waiting for my friends to arrive since I got nothing else better to do. The menu, like EDO’s, was wrinkled and used, but I didn’t mind that because the menus were temporary ones anyways. They also pre-poured water for every table even if they were empty; I guess they know they’re popular or something. The restaurant was really hot, and my friends said the same thing as they walked into the restaurant. It was also made apparent from all the ice in the water melting at record speed.

Mintea’s Cafe Adventures – CANADA (Part 2)

Thank you for waiting!

Another album has been uploaded onto Mintea’s Cafe Adventures FB page. Due to the photos being captioned in a rush, some sentences may make no sense, and the ideas may be vague. Any questions though, feel free to ask!

Click here to check out more delicious afternoon tea locations and cafes!

This album features (so far!) :
– Urban Tea Merchant
– T Room
– Cafe Deux Soleils
– Thomas Haas

You will be notified should I add more to the same album or if I upload a new one.

Remember, it’s good to treat yourself once in a while (but not TOO much like I do or you might become broke)!  :)

Happy dining!

Brassaii – Winterlicious, the full on experience

Aaaaand I’m back!

It’s another instalment of prolonged Winterlicious review! Don’t worry, I only have 2 more Winterlicious (including this one). Hopefully my backlog will be shrinking as I post more…

Before I get started on this post, the lighting in the restaurant was very limited, and I refuse to use flash. Some pictures are quite dark, and I do apologize for that.

Tonight’s dining took place in Brassaii. The outside looks very much like a sacrificial chamber like one I would find in Skyrim. I mean… it’s very pretty :D. In all seriousness, Brassaii was a bit difficult to locate because it is in a deserted alleyway. The snow blowing into our face doesn’t help, either, but we managed to find it regardless. Brassaii is on 461 King St W Toronto, ON M5V 1K4.

Bodega – Winterlicious, the full on experience

It’s restaurant review time, live from an airplane; this is one of the three entries I’ve been meaning to write. On Feb 3, I went to a restaurant called Bodega for lunch as part of the WInterlicious event. Bodega is an French bistro located at 30 Baldwin Street Toronto, ON M5T 1L3. The reservation was for 4 people at 12:30, but somehow, everyone was late. I feel really bad for being late, but the bus was 40 minutes late… I also live 1.5 hours away from the restaurant, so there really isn’t anything I could do.

Anyways, the exterior of the restaurant looked small, but nice. One could tell by looking at the exterior that this restaurant has class. It was small but packed, which usually means good. I found my friend and sat down without getting greeted by anybody. Nobody even came to pour me a glass of water until one other friend showed up. That was another 10 minutes later. Now, I know I shouldn’t complain since I was the one at fault, but I am still a paying customer!

I’ve had a really hard time deciding what to get because everything (almost) on the menu looks so tasty.

I got the soup of the day, which was carrot and sweet potato. Continue reading

Nutella Cheesecake Cup – You can never go wrong with Nutella

Sorry for the long absence. I was quite caught up with school and preparing for my trip to Vancouver. In fact, I’m sitting in the airport writing this right now.

But enough about me, today, I bring to you  another delicious and easy dessert, Nutella Cheesecake Cup. Like always, I lack originality, so I used the recipe I found on this site. Instead of using cookies, however, I used cheesecake. You can follow the recipe below, or just use your favourite cheesecake recipe; both will suffice.
