Famoso – FAV’D – The hottest pizzeria

This post is part of FAV’D.
The previous FAV’D post is Ramen Jinya.

So much for one a day… I really don’t have an excuse for it. I was just lazy, and didn’t feel like writing this. Though this itself is an excuse…

Well, moving on…

After my meal at Ramen Jinya, we headed for waterfront, where the Olympic torch was since I’ve never seen the torch, yet. Can I just say that the Olympic torch was a lot more underwhelming than I had imagined/seen from other people’s pictures. I thought it was three times taller at least. This whale that I took a picture with was more interesting than the torch.

Al Porto – Walk on the cobbled sidewalks into Italy

The other day, my honey surprised me with a reservation in downtown at 7 pm. The reservation was not a surprise, but the sudden dine-out was, as we usually decide on a day beforehand if we are going somewhere nice. Needless to say, I was rather excited and when I asked what sort of food we will be having, he replied, “Um.. their people use hand gestures a lot.” It was a funny hint, but I knew instantly there’d be Italian food on my plate.

The restaurant he took me was in Gastown and called Al Porto. It it at 321 Water Street Vancouver B.C. V6B 1B8. Check out their website for more info!

Al Porto is somewhat hidden in an alleyway and you’ll need to step on cobblestone before entering, but once you do, you’ll instantly feel like you are in Italy. The interior is warm and inviting, with a cozy feeling – much like someone’s home, except it is super spacious (maybe a rich Italian person’s home?). Click here if interested in pictures.

Cavino – Coffee by Day – Wine by Night

Do you dine out often? How many times do you dine out in a month?

After some thought, I realized aside from Vancouver dine outs, I generally dine out (by dine out, I mean eating at mid to high end restaurants) at least once a month. This probably started when I began dating my current boyfriend. We would always eat at a nice place to celebrate another month being together. Now, it became a delicious (and expensive!) habit that’s hard to break, haha.

So the other day, we decided upon a place called Cavino. To be honest, since it’s very late in the Vancouver dine out week, many of the places I set my eyes on either didn’t have a menu I could look at on-line or were already fully booked on the days we were available. Cavino’s menu barely caught my attention amongst the many others, but I am SO GLAD I went.

Here’s the address of the place: 1234 Hornby StreetVancouver, BC V6Z 1W2
It is in downtown, 6 blocks away from Vancouver Centre Skytrain.
I give directions so bad that they would lead you to China (seriously, but not literally, haha), so check out their website for more info regarding location.
